While many Americans were celebrating the holidays this 4th of July, Steve McNair, former Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens quarterback was found dead in his Nashville home. McNair, a former NFL MVP winner in 2003, was shot multiple times in the temple and chest. Police found him the next morning dead on his couch, with gunshots in his left, right temple, and his chest. Next to him laid his girlfriend Sahel Kazemi, who also had been shot in the temple. Police are investigating the situation and have concluded it was a murder suicide case.
According to many of Sahel Kazemi’s friends she was worried and frustrated with her financial standpoint. Reports also say that she had suspected that McNair was seeing another woman. McNair was 36 years of age at the time. The Tennessean stated that gunshots were fired from more then 3 feet away and the shot the killed Kazemi was fired with the gun touching her head. Farzin Abdi a family member of Kazemi, said, “they did not think that Kazemi would kill former Titan’s quarterback and herself.” The couple had been dating for months. They were found dead by friend Wayne Neely, who called friend Robert Gaddy who had played with McNair. Reporters say that Kazemi believed that McNair was going to divorce his wife and the two were going to move in together. Sahel Kazemi had gone as far as to sell her furniture on Craig’s List. The semiautomatic gun, which was not seen at the seen at the beginning, was later discovered under Kazemi. The friend of McNair’s that was at the scene defended McNair, saying that the couple was not divorcing and the reason the house was for sale was because they were looking to move into another neighborhood.
Fans wishing to pay respect to their former quarterback were able to do so Wednesday and Thursday, July 8th and 9th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the stadium. Donations to the Steve McNair foundation are now being taken. Videos will be on display at the stadium showing some of his greatest moments. A mural of his career will also be on display. A few days prior to the murder, Kazemi was arrested, driving an Escalade under her and McNair’s name for DUI. McNair was angry about the whole ordeal, he was not in trouble so was able to take a taxi home. McNair left the scene without talking to Kazemi, but later bailed her out of jail. The whole situation with McNair’s death is shocking and heartbreaking to all who knew and loved Steve.

The first day of the 2009 WSOP Main Event got off to a rocky start when 500 players were shut out of the tournament and did not get to play. The final number of players for this 2009 Main Event totaled 6,494 players, which means that the last player standing will collect over 8.5 million dollars as the winner of the 2009 WSOP. This is several million less than Jamie Gold’s record 12 million dollar win a couple of years ago. It is also the second year that the final table will be delayed a couple of months before it is played. The players who make the final table will be winners of at least one million dollars. Many stated they will probably stay fresh with some of the best online poker rooms.
Without a doubt the high interest in this tournament is still there and the shut out of 500 players who wanted to play is a sign that this tournament needs to be organized better and the rules for getting to play stiffened so that this is not repeated in future years. A cut off date for registration would be the simplest way to begin to correct this problem in the future.
The players who did get to play are gambling in shifts again as there is not one facility that can hold all of the players at one time. It will be interesting to see if the eventual winner is determined by skill or by an amazing rush of super hands that just defies all odds of a rush ending after one day. In Gold’s big win, his rush was non-stop as the good hands just kept coming for the entire tournament.
Repeat winners of the WSOP are also a long shot bet at best, as the number of players makes this less likely each year. WSOP’s attraction is still a force in the poker world, as the popularity of poker is not subsiding since Chris Moneymaker won the tournament when completely unknown.
For those players that got into the tournament via a satellite tournament and can now parlay that rather small investment into potential millions, hope is rampant. The only factor that needs to break their way is a run of winning the race hands
The big name pros have one advantage in this tournament; they know how to build a stack for latter days in the tournament. Over sized stacks are a huge advantage when a player is seated at a table with a group of small stacks that can be bullied and eliminated if a mistake is made. The realization for many is it takes only one serious mistake or bad beat to end the dreams of making and then winning at the final table. As always luck or skill or both will decide the last player standing.
If your looking to get into the action next year, check out the best online casino bonuses so you can practice your skills and get a jump on the competition for the 2010 Main Event.

WSOP AT THE START
Nick Dandolos and Benny Binion, two of the most outstanding and prodigious players decided to have a game of marathon poker. Thus, in the late 1940’s the match was set up with Nick challenging the then unrivaled king of poker Johnny Moss. It was not before 1949 that the play got underway with both oppositions agreeing to a detailed contract. One of the clauses of the contract was that play was to be held in full public view. After grueling set of hands and tiring game of play, finally, there was a winner. As predicted, Moss won and took home a bounty close to 2 million. Thus, a new era of poker known as World Series of poker had begun.
Nick lost the first endurance match, but Binion again challenged Moss after 21 years of Nick losing in the first marathon poker. He invited six of the most well known poker players to The Horseshoe Casino, Nevada to play a game of marathon poker. Again, as awaited, Moss dominated and came forth as the undisputed champion of champions. Players decided the winner on basis of secret ballot as it was a set time event. This was the invitational event and from this event onwards, the championship was laurelled as The World Series of Poker.

The Coke Zero 400 ended with a bit of controversy when Kyle Busch, at the last second of the race was about to pass the finish line, Tony Stewart comes from behind and bumps him causing him to lose the race. A forth of July fan favorite, this race is always exciting and we never know what to expect. Busch was leading multiple times throughout the race when Stewart tried to pass him again and again. Tony Stewart went on to win the race as Busch’s car crashed into the wall. Busch stated that if the 2nd place racer “dumps,” the 1st place car, he should be black-flagged and the winner should be the 3rd place racer. Many drivers came to Stewart’s defense saying, “What happened Saturday night was just a consequence of restrictor plate racing and 2 competitors driving hard.” Busch left the race without a word to anyone, obviously frustrated. After the race, Busch didn’t express his anger, but he did express his point when talking about the end of the race. Stewart later apologized, saying he was sorry for winning a race like that and he didn’t intentionally crash Busch. When asked if he could do the race over again, would he do anything differently? Busch stated, “No I would not do anything differently, I tried everything I could to win the race. I didn’t.”
Both Stewart and Busch talked at Daytona and on the phone to try to subside this issue. Busch said very sarcastically to reporters “When I am in 2nd place, I win 2nd place. When I am leading I get wrecked.” With this win Stewart remained the leader in points in the Sprint Cup Standing. “A phone conversation between the two of us after the race was very pleasing. I was happy,” Stewart exclaimed. In Busch’s case, he went from a few seconds from a win to winding up in 14th place. Jimmie Johnson came in second, with Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards placing in 4th and 5th. Denny Hamlin led 63 laps during this race, while Tony Stewart led 86.
Dale Earnhardt continued his bad performances and finishing 39th dropping him to 21st in the point standings. Earnhardt’s night was ended when a 13-car crash happened. Stewart won his 35th career victory; his pit crew played a big role in his success. Stewart’s pit crew got him out of the pit the fastest 7 times during the race. Stewart, the point’s leader, expanded his lead over Jeff Gordon 180 points. The hard racing showed by all players in the race was exciting for the fans at home and the people in the stands.

Wimbledon 2009 was more then anyone could have asked for. The battle of the William sisters was huge and could 14 time slam winner Rodger Federer claim his 15th slam and pass Pete Sampras for the all time record.
The women’s final was a bit of a 1-sided match. Defending champion Venus Williams cracked at a try to win her 6th slam. Serena brought the intensity throughout the entire match, from her serves to her returns, she was a beast. Everything seemed to be going right for Serena. The final went to 3 sets, with many match points for both Serena and Venus, but in the end Serena prevailed to win her slam. After the match this sisters hugged and exchanged congratulations to one another. As Serena waved and received applaud from her fans, Venus sat and stared at what could have been another slam. The two sisters have player each other before in slams; Serena has won all of the championships against her sister.
At the post game interview Serena applauded her sister, saying she is fantastic player and it was an honor to play against one of the greats. The two sisters are always compared to each other; both say that reason that both are so good is because of the other. Before the match, both sisters looked anxious and didn’t dare look at each other. The beginning of the match nothing really stood out between the two, just Serena’s fantastic and monstrous serving.
The men’s final was more interesting to watch. Could Rodger Federer claim greatness and win another slam. Most fans and experts thought that it would be a 1-sided affair. They were quite mistaken; Andy Roddick would not go down without a fight. Roddick who was not sure he would ever participate in another slam again. With his defeat of Andy Murray, Roddick had earned his chance to participate in another slam. This game was a classic; it took 30 sets for Federer to finally grasp a win and his 15th slam. Many were stunned by the amazing play performed by Roddick. This slam would go down as 1 of the best finals in history. The question was, what would this slam be remember for. Would it be the amazing stand of Andy Roddick to not give up the title so easily, when everyone thought he would go down without a challenge; or was it the accomplishment of Rodger Fedmerer wining his 15th slam and placing his name as the best tennis player of all time?

Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Manny Ramirez returned Friday, July 3rd after a 50 game suspension for the use of a drug that was banned by the MLB. This game was played in San Diego, California, not too far from Dodger Stadium. The opposing pitcher was Chad Gaudin. His first game back was what some had expected. Manny went 0-3 with a walk. His first plate appearance had a bit of mixed feelings too it. Boo’s and cheer’s from all different fans spread across the stadium. This was a road game, even though it was so close to home; the criticism from the fans was expected. In a press conference before the game, Ramirez stated that he had anxiety and was worried about the game. Manager Joe Torre took Ramirez out before the game was finished stating “that’s enough for his first game back.”
As many thought Ramirez was rusty after his suspension. Even though the rust showed in his game, Ramirez himself exclaimed that he was happy to get some at bats in. After this was all said and done, Ramirez seemed to be in a more calming and a more “Manny” like mood. The Dodgers went on to win the game 6-3.
After being held hitless in his first game back, Manny didn’t know when he was going to be back in the baseball swing and receive his timing back. Manny did not waste much time. The first inning of the game, Ramirez jacked a solo homerun off pitcher Josh Geer. This was his 7th homerun of the year and 534th of his amazing career. This homerun tied Jimmie Foxx for 16th on the all time list. This was only his 5th plate appearance since his comeback from his steroids allegations. Manny didn’t speak to the reporters after the 7-4 loss to the Padres. Ramirez was down in the count before he drove a change up into the left field seats. Torre commented after the game stating “I think this is the best medicine for him after having to go through what he went through.” Even though this was his only hit out of 3 attempts on Saturday, this gave a calming vibe to all that love Manny. Their slugger is starting to get his rhythm again.
The Dodgers were 21-8 when Ramirez was suspended, without him they went 29-21. The Dodgers, the team with the best record in the MLB even without their star, are glad that he has returned and are ready to keep there pace and head straight for the playoffs. Manny’s return comes just in time to think about placing that sports wager at the best online sportsbooks. Last lines we checked, this news had not helped LAs line against San Diego.
