There have been a lot of great NFL quarterbacks in the history of the league that have just stayed in the pros for far too long and as a result all their fans were able to witness their once favorite quarterback slowing, but surely become nothing more than an old man behind center. Occasionally in the NFL we have seen somewhat of fairy tale ending for great NFL quarterbacks like the Denver Broncos John Elway who ended his hall of fame NFL career with two straight Super Bowl titles. Elway couldn’t have ended his career with the Broncos any better and as a result many people believe he is up there in the “Best QB of All-Time” category. Then there other quarterbacks greats like Joe Montana, who is without a doubt one of the All-Time great QBs, but after his unbelievable career with the San Francisco 49ers, where he won four Super Bowl title and two NFL MVPs, Montana ended his hall of fame career with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Joe Montana played pretty well for the Chiefs with another aging hall of famer in running back Marcus Allen, but fell short in the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills. The next season was somewhat of a disappointment as the Chiefs made the playoffs, but lost in the AFC Wildcard game to the Miami Dolphins.
Needless to say, Montana was unable to go out on top and retired from the game in a different uniform.
This season we have two future hall of fame quarterbacks on the verge of retirement in the Minnesota Vikings Brett Favre and the Arizona Cardinals Kurt Warner. Both of these legendary quarterbacks had exceptional seasons and were able to lead their teams into the playoffs once again, but weren’t able to reach the Super Bowl and now are contemplating retiring from the game.
There is always a lot of drama and waffling with Brett Favre which I am sure will go on all throughout the offseason, but Kurt Warner has already set a deadline for himself which is this Friday.
This Friday Kurt Warner will hold a press conference and announce his intentions for the upcoming season and whether or not he will finally call it quits.
Personally, I believe Warner can still play and if he came back for one last season the Arizona Cardinals will have good chance of a competing for a Super Bowl, but I can’t remember a time when a player called a press conference to announce he was coming back.

In a bit of a shock to the Whitehouse, or at least a shock at how quickly this was announced, the International Olympic Committee decided to eliminate the city of Chicago as a potential host city to the 2016 Olympic Games.
Many around the world, and in the US who were debating as to whether the city of Chicago was ready to host the Olympics, can now focus on something else as the Windy City is now eliminated from the list.
Even with President Barack Obama and his Wife traveling over to Copenhagen this week in hopes of convincing the IOC to give the next Olympics to the US, it just was not enough. There were some heated debates among citizens as to why Obama would leave the US to travel over 6K miles for this when the nation is in turmoil over the President’s Health Care Bill as well as the lack of attention or concern for the happenings in Afghanistan where the General in Charge has requested many more troops. Obama indicated he would address the War in Afghanistan within the next few weeks.
Shortly after the US was eliminated, the IOC announced that Tokyo was also no longer in contention for the bid. Right now it is between Madrid and Rio de Janeiro to host the next games.

As we predicted in yesterdays post, the Seminoles were able to step up their game and the D finally looked like they knew what they were doing. BYU did not play very well and the Noles did get some key turnovers, but with a 54 to 28 victory, The FSU Seminoles are showing that they have hte ability to step up and play like the critics think they can, but can they do it more than one week?
The Noles take on the South Florida Bulls this week and should be able to have another high scoring affair. With a climb to #18 in the AP Top 25, we will see what they can do to make it a little higher up the rankings.

When the BYU Cougars upset the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 1, many thought that the matchup against Florida State was a pretty big deal and one that has a lot at stake. But with the Seminoles loss to Miami on Labor Day, BYU faces an unranked FSU team.
Florida State followed up their loss to the Hurricanes with a dismal performance against Jacksonville State where the Noles did not get the job done until the final minute of the game – that was almost a 0-2 start. We watch Miami destroy Georgia Tech this Thursday and it looks like the Canes are for real. Thier QB is lighting up the scoreboard and their defense is incredibly fast. This will be an interesting year for the Canes, although they have some very tough games coming up – with Virginia Tech next week.
We think the Noles have something to prove this week and anticipate the defense finally stepping up their performance and actually covering some receivers this week. FSU needs to get the ball in the air, and not throw behind the line of scrimmage 50% of the time – use the famous slant of 10-12 yards that we use to use to tear up the competition.

Everyone is going around saying that the NFL has finally gone mad and this is with less than a week after starting their training camp. Eli Manning has apparently struck a $97.5 million contract or rather an extension with the Giants. The various idiosyncrasies of the N.F.L is baffling all the fans and the whole world in general it seems. Then there is the $90 pizza at the New Cowboys Stadium. Also Jerry Jones seems to have devised a new way to getting more and crowds to come for the games. Guess how? He is selling tickets to fans that are ready to watch the games by standing in the concourses. And then of course the Twitter controversy seems to have just blown over. From a USA online sportsbooks perspective, things seem a little crazy right now.
However all the hype in NFL is currently surrounding the star quarterback Eli Manning. He has agreed to extend his contract with the New York Giants and this contract will give him the highest annual salary in the League currently. The negotiations have just gotten over. This extension is for six years and will make Eli Manning richer by $97.5 million. This contract includes $35 million as guaranteed money and will continue through the 2015 season. With the current contract, Eli Manning has about a single season left. His current contract is worth $45 million. This season he was supposed to be paid $9.4 million. Over the next seven consecutive seasons, Manning will be paid about $106.9 million. That basically makes his annual income somewhere around the astronomical figure of $15.27 million per year.
As per what New York Daily News says, the general manager of the new York Giants, Jerry Reese told journalists that the deal was almost complete with the exception of a few little details. According to the general manager, Eli Manning is really worth the contract and is a valuable player who is capable of performing consistently, even under intense media pressure. Before Eli Manning scored such a golden deal, it was the cornerback from Oakland Raiders, Nnamdi Asomugha had the highest income on an annual average. It was at $15.1 million per season. He had a three year deal which was worth $45.3 million dollars.
Eli Manning has a stellar NFL record with 14,623 yards with 98 touchdown passes and 74 interceptions. He threw for 3,238 yards in the last season with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Manning was also the 14th rated passer in the NFL. Manning has an older brother called Peyton manning who is a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. Even he has a contract worth $14 per season. Eli Manning was selected for his first Pro Bowl in the last season and has lead the giants to the playoffs in all the four seasons that he has played as an NFL starter. Hey everyone, we just wanted to show all you NFL buffs who may not have seen this yet just how cool Reggie Wayne is. Always a top 5 receiver every year, Wayne doesn’t get the attention he sometimes deserves becuase he’s not as loud or flamboyant as OchoCinco or a few others. Anyway, it’s pretty funny.

NBA superstar Antoine Walker was in Nevada last week in order to participate in the American Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament and apparently decided to visit one of his favorite casinos, Harrahs. He was arrested in the casino and charged with writing bad checks to three Vegas casinos. He reportedly wrote 10 bad checks to Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and Red Rock Resort in order to get a line of credit while he visited those casinos.
This sounds somewhat similar to Charles Barkley’s situation where he too was charged with stealing money from Vegas casinos over a year ago. One would think that someone who has made over $100 million in his 12 years in the pros can afford to cover checks he writes for gambling, but instead Walker is going to have to learn the hard way. Walker is no stranger to run-ins with the law. Just months ago, he was arrested in Miami on charges of DUI. He has reportedly paid back about $1 million of his debt, but still owes over $800,000 to casinos. Looks like he is going to have to find the best online casinos now as he will certainly not be welcomed in Vegas anytime soon.

The guys around the office have not been able to stop talking about tonights UFC 100. We have been waiting for this for a while and can’t wait to see the headliner event which is a rematch between UFC Heayweight Champion Brock Lesnar and the UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir.
The last time these two met up it appeared that Lesnar had the bout in the bag and was well on his way to another victory. But in the last few minutes, Mir was able to get Lesnar in a leg hold in which he had to tap out of. Looking at Brock Lesnar, you can’t help but think about what will happen to the other guy. This guy is a physical specimen that is amazing. But Mir is a very experienced and knows how to prepare, so this should be pretty amazing.

The Coke Zero 400 ended with a bit of controversy when Kyle Busch, at the last second of the race was about to pass the finish line, Tony Stewart comes from behind and bumps him causing him to lose the race. A forth of July fan favorite, this race is always exciting and we never know what to expect. Busch was leading multiple times throughout the race when Stewart tried to pass him again and again. Tony Stewart went on to win the race as Busch’s car crashed into the wall. Busch stated that if the 2nd place racer “dumps,” the 1st place car, he should be black-flagged and the winner should be the 3rd place racer. Many drivers came to Stewart’s defense saying, “What happened Saturday night was just a consequence of restrictor plate racing and 2 competitors driving hard.” Busch left the race without a word to anyone, obviously frustrated. After the race, Busch didn’t express his anger, but he did express his point when talking about the end of the race. Stewart later apologized, saying he was sorry for winning a race like that and he didn’t intentionally crash Busch. When asked if he could do the race over again, would he do anything differently? Busch stated, “No I would not do anything differently, I tried everything I could to win the race. I didn’t.”
Both Stewart and Busch talked at Daytona and on the phone to try to subside this issue. Busch said very sarcastically to reporters “When I am in 2nd place, I win 2nd place. When I am leading I get wrecked.” With this win Stewart remained the leader in points in the Sprint Cup Standing. “A phone conversation between the two of us after the race was very pleasing. I was happy,” Stewart exclaimed. In Busch’s case, he went from a few seconds from a win to winding up in 14th place. Jimmie Johnson came in second, with Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards placing in 4th and 5th. Denny Hamlin led 63 laps during this race, while Tony Stewart led 86.
Dale Earnhardt continued his bad performances and finishing 39th dropping him to 21st in the point standings. Earnhardt’s night was ended when a 13-car crash happened. Stewart won his 35th career victory; his pit crew played a big role in his success. Stewart’s pit crew got him out of the pit the fastest 7 times during the race. Stewart, the point’s leader, expanded his lead over Jeff Gordon 180 points. The hard racing showed by all players in the race was exciting for the fans at home and the people in the stands.

Wimbledon 2009 was more then anyone could have asked for. The battle of the William sisters was huge and could 14 time slam winner Rodger Federer claim his 15th slam and pass Pete Sampras for the all time record.
The women’s final was a bit of a 1-sided match. Defending champion Venus Williams cracked at a try to win her 6th slam. Serena brought the intensity throughout the entire match, from her serves to her returns, she was a beast. Everything seemed to be going right for Serena. The final went to 3 sets, with many match points for both Serena and Venus, but in the end Serena prevailed to win her slam. After the match this sisters hugged and exchanged congratulations to one another. As Serena waved and received applaud from her fans, Venus sat and stared at what could have been another slam. The two sisters have player each other before in slams; Serena has won all of the championships against her sister.
At the post game interview Serena applauded her sister, saying she is fantastic player and it was an honor to play against one of the greats. The two sisters are always compared to each other; both say that reason that both are so good is because of the other. Before the match, both sisters looked anxious and didn’t dare look at each other. The beginning of the match nothing really stood out between the two, just Serena’s fantastic and monstrous serving.
The men’s final was more interesting to watch. Could Rodger Federer claim greatness and win another slam. Most fans and experts thought that it would be a 1-sided affair. They were quite mistaken; Andy Roddick would not go down without a fight. Roddick who was not sure he would ever participate in another slam again. With his defeat of Andy Murray, Roddick had earned his chance to participate in another slam. This game was a classic; it took 30 sets for Federer to finally grasp a win and his 15th slam. Many were stunned by the amazing play performed by Roddick. This slam would go down as 1 of the best finals in history. The question was, what would this slam be remember for. Would it be the amazing stand of Andy Roddick to not give up the title so easily, when everyone thought he would go down without a challenge; or was it the accomplishment of Rodger Fedmerer wining his 15th slam and placing his name as the best tennis player of all time?
