Can Reggie Bush be the Saints X Factor in Super Bowl
Posted February 4th, 2010 by Ryan
A few years back there was no running back in college football more promising than Heisman trophy winner Reggie Bush of the USC Trojans.
On a yearly basis, the USC Trojans led by head coach Pete Carroll were the team to beat in college football as they made opposing defenses look like high school football teams as superstar quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Matt Leinart and running back phenom Reggie Bush just dominated in their high powered offense.
Along with the Trojans’ high powered offense, USC had one of the best defenses in the nation and were damn near unstoppable, but it was the amazing plays made by Reggie Bush on a weekly basis that made the headlines and the high reels as it looked like Bush could be the next Barry Sanders s when he made it to the NFL.
At the time Bush was most dominant player in college football, the New Orleans Saints were a team on the rise, but still far from a title contender or even a playoff team for that matter. Fortunately, the Saints were able to draft Reggie Bush and seemed to have some hope for the future with Bush coming out of the backfield and Drew Brees behind center.
Even though Bush was thought to be the next best thing in the NFL with hype only rivaled by LeBron James making the jump from high school to the NBA, the former USC running back failed to play with the same kind of dominance that he showed on the college level and the Saints started second guessing drafting the former Heisman trophy winner.
Despite all the injuries and the inability to live up the reputation he made in his college days as a game changer, this season Reggie Bush has had an impressive turn around and had his best game of the season at the right time against the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the playoffs with two touchdowns and 217 all purpose yards.
Unfortunately, in the NFC Championship game against the Minnesota Vikings, Bush didn’t have the best of games with just 41 all purpose yards and one touchdown, but the Saints were able to pull out the victory over Brett Favre and company to advance to the Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts. There is still time to get your Super Bowl wagers in now at Bookmaker, one of the top USA online sportsbooks.
Reggie Bush may have been the X-factor against the Arizona Cardinals a couple of weeks ago, but I believe he will have a similar performance against the Colts in Miami as the game against the Cardinals might have been nothing more than a fluke. The best online sportsbooks have the line for this game at 4.5 Colts.
