NBA All-Star East Reserves

Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics aren’t getting any younger as players like Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are arguably on the tail end of their careers in the NBA, but the glue that is holding it all together in Boston is point guard Rajon Rondo who is once again putting up impressive numbers.

Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls are having a tough year this season as they try and figure out how to replace the void left by arguably their best player in Ben Gordon leaving in the offseason, but center Joakim Noah and point guard Derrick Rose are keeping the team in contention for a playoff spot and as a result Rose has been awarded with his first All-Star appearance.

Joe Johnson, Atlanta Hawks

Every single season the Atlanta Hawks are a playoff team in the Eastern Conference with their young up and coming team, but this season they have outdone themselves and have gone from a playoff team to a possible title contender. This wouldn’t be possible without their undisputed leader in Joe Johnson who will be headed to the All-Star game once again.

Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics

The Celtics have been pretty banged up this season with injuries to key players like Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, but despite these injuries both KG, Pierce and Rondo will be playing alongside each other in the All-Star game for the Eastern Conference.

Gerald Wallace, Charlotte Bobcats

The Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns and the Charlotte Bobcats have been arguably the three biggest surprises in the NBA this season as they have been able to shake off the rust from seasons past and become legitimate playoff teams in the East and the West. The Bobcats wouldn’t have been able to do this without head coach Larry Brown’s leadership on the sidelines and Gerald Wallace’s leadership on the floor.

Al Horford, Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks should have had four players on the East All-Star team this time around as Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford, Josh Smith and Al Horford all deserved spots on this team, but unfortunately they will have to settle with two as Horford becomes an All-Star for the first time in his NBA career. The kid continues to play consistently well on both sides of the basketball floor and has never been more deserving of an All-Star selection with his impressive play this season.
