As per what New York Daily News says, the general manager of the new York Giants, Jerry Reese told journalists that the deal was almost complete with the exception of a few little details. According to the general manager, Eli Manning is really worth the contract and is a valuable player who is capable of performing consistently, even under intense media pressure. Before Eli Manning scored such a golden deal, it was the cornerback from Oakland Raiders, Nnamdi Asomugha had the highest income on an annual average. It was at $15.1 million per season. He had a three year deal which was worth $45.3 million dollars.

Eli Manning has a stellar NFL record with 14,623 yards with 98 touchdown passes and 74 interceptions. He threw for 3,238 yards in the last season with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Manning was also the 14^th rated passer in the NFL. Manning has an older brother called Peyton manning who is a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. Even he has a contract worth $14 per season. Eli Manning was selected for his first Pro Bowl in the last season and has lead the giants to the playoffs in all the four seasons that he has played as an NFL starter.
