Cleveland Browns cut Derek Anderson
Posted March 11th, 2010 by Dennis
Over the past couple of seasons the Cleveland Browns looked like a promising team with a good young core and to starting caliber quarterbacks in hometown boy Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson.
The intention of drafting Brady Quinn was that he would be the future face of the franchise, but things have worked out the way that the Cleveland Browns planned it and they are actively seeking another quarterback via trade.
The one big question going into this off-season, after another miserable season, was where they going to get rid of Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson in order to bring in another quarterback to start behind center in Cleveland. The obvious choice was get rid of Derek Anderson because Brady Quinn still looks like he could get the job done with a little bit more time behind center for the ...

Posted March 11th, 2010 by Dennis
Over the past five years or so USC has been involved in a lot of shady business with some of their big name players both on the football gridiron an on the basketball floor being surrounded in controversy involving payoffs.
It is still yet to be seen whether or not USC athletic program has been paying off big name players like current Super Bowl champion running back Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints or current Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard OJ Mayo, but despite all the denials by both players and USC, the authority still might be looking to prosecute as they still believe that some wrongdoing went on with the students while they attended USC.
Earlier today on the Dan Patrick show, host Dan Patrick interviewed OJ Mayo over the phone and asked him to clear the air on whether or not they ...

Kansas takes number one spot as Syracuse falls to third
Posted March 8th, 2010 by Dennis
It was a good run for Jim Boeheim and company, but it has been sometime and that it did as the Syracuse Orangemen dropped from number one in the country to number three after loss to the Rick Pitino's Louisville Cardinals on Saturday night which was the last game played at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.
Even though the Louisville Cardinals have been the team they were last year as they are unranked in the AP top 25, Rick Pitino’s squad came out with some much needed intensity on Saturday night in order to upset the number one team in the country in conference play. It was Odyssey unemotional game with that being the last game at Freedom Hall and that was just enough motivation for the Cardinals to convincingly beat the Orangemen 78-68.
After the loss, the Syracuse Orangemen lost ...

A Tomlinson and Adrian Peterson backfield in Minnesota
Posted March 8th, 2010 by Dennis
The Minnesota Vikings are once again surrounded in speculation on whether or not the ageless one Brett Favre will be back in a Minnesota Vikings uniform next season behind center, but even though Favre is still undecided, big surprise, there is some other exciting news coming out of Minnesota that might turn the Vikings backfield into one of the most dynamic the NFL has ever seen.
Just recently the San Diego Chargers decided to part ways with one of their best players ever to suit for them in future hall of fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson. They say in the NFL that once a running back hits 30 years of age it is all downhill and from the way LT has played since hitting the three decade mark it seems to be true, but despite no longer coming out of the backfield for one of the best teams in the AFC, next sea ...

The tournaments of all tournaments, March Madness, is about to begin college basketball couple of weeks from now, but there are still some big name conferences around the nation with its title up for grabs and the Big 10 is one of those conferences right now.
In years past Ohio State Buckeyes have been one of the teams to beat in the Big Ten conference and the season is no different as they sit with a 24-7 overall record and a 14-4 conference record.
Despite making the final four back in the days of Greg Oden patrolling the paint for the Buckeyes, Michigan State Spartans have arguably been the best team in the conference ever since head coach Tom Izzo took over.
Unfortunately, despite getting all the way to the national championship game last year, the Michigan State Spartan ...

Posted March 5th, 2010 by Jason
No team in the NFL last season seemed go through more turmoil or change then the AFC West’s Denver Broncos led by new head coach Josh McDaniels formerly of the New England Patriots.
Coming into the season everyone expected the Denver Broncos fall flat on their face after they had parted ways with both their franchise quarterback Jay Cutler, who they traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for draft pick and quarterback Kyle Orton, and future Hall of fame head coach in Denver legend Mike Shanahan, who was fired in the previous offseason.
The Broncos had a new first time head coach in Josh McDaniels, a new quarterback in Kyle Orton and basically only one big name player coming back and superstar wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

The Syracuse Orangemen in just one week have jumped to the number one spot in the nation over the Kentucky Wildcats and the Kansas Jayhawks and have won the Big East title after beating the lowly St. John's Red Storm on Tuesday night 85-66.
Last season the Pittsburgh Panthers and the UConn Huskies were the teams to beat in the Big East with the Louisville Cardinals not too far behind, but this season many things have changed as neither UConn or Louisville are ranked this season and Pitt sits with a #18 ranking and a 11-5 record.
The Orangemen still have one game to go before the regular season ends in the NCAA tournament begins, but things are looking good for Jim Boeheim and company as they could very well be the number one overall see ...

Allen Iverson will miss rest of season for Philadelphia 76ers
Posted March 2nd, 2010 by Dennis
There have been few players in NBA history that have been as tough or as relentless in the NBA than the 6 foot guard Allen Iverson. It seems that no matter what he has been faced with during his NBA career or even during the days in college playing under head coach John Thompson at Georgetown, Iverson has stepped up to the challenge and exceeded expectations while becoming arguably one of the best guards ever to play this game.
When Allen Iverson started his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers in 1996, there was a lot Heights around and the youngster coming out of Georgetown as he looks like one of the best players in the draft if not the best deservedly so the number one overall pick.

Detroit Lions looking for RBs: McGahee and LT on radar
Posted February 27th, 2010 by Ryan
Last season the NFL the Detroit Lions showed signs of promise in the beginning of the year with their number one overall pick franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford behind center and up-and-coming wide receiver Calvin Johnson as his number one target.
Obviously, all the Lions had to do to beat the expectations for this past season was to win at least two games. Well, that was easier said than done as they just barely won two games last season, but the team definitely looked much improved and Stafford looked like a quarterback that could be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.
Even though the Detroit Lions look like they could be a very good team in the near future, as of right now they are still one of the worst if not the worst team in the NFL next to the Cleveland Browns, but thi ...

John Calipari does not care about the SEC title
Posted February 27th, 2010 by Jeremy
There have been few head coaches in college basketball that have been able to take multiple programs to the NCAA tournament and be successful, but John Calipari of the Kentucky Wildcats is one of those few as been successful with the UMass Minutemen led by big man Marcus Camby and the Memphis Tigers led by freshman phenom Derrick Rose.
One must think that all this success on the collegiate level can be attributed to type of system or just plain and simple coaching ability to go with top-tier talented players, Calipari on the other hand just takes more the direct approach and has recently been quoted as saying that he doesn't care about the conference title in the SEC, but he looks towards the NCAA tournament in what seed his Kentucky Wildcats can get come March Madness.
Most head coaches arou ...
