Earlier today, Tony Ahn, who previously worked as an analyst at one of the largest companies in the state, Strip, was given a sentence of 57 months in the federal prison. He was put behind bars for being involved in a cheating scheme at the casino.
Tony, who is 27-years-old, had lost his job amidst the cheating scandal. He pleaded guilty in front of the jury for spearheading the conspiracy in May. He accepted all the allegations and confirmed that he did betray his company’s trust and unlawfully won close to USD 900,000 from the slots.
James Mahan, the US District Judge, ordered on the Monday that Ahn was to pay the entire amount, USD 863,895, back to the casino in restitution and serve the period of 57 months in federal prison. Even after release from the prison, he will be serving couple of years under supervision.
Ahn was given until November 5, 2012 to surrender himself to the federal prison authorities. While letting Ahn know about his fate, Mahan said, “It is a tragedy to see that you are here for such a crime. You have immense potential, which could have worked in favor of the industry. I would now hope that this might bring in a positive turn in your life.”
At the same time, Ahn also apologized and he promised that he would make sure to never get entangled with the law again.
Ahn said, “I accept that what I did was a big mistake and there is no excuse to it. However, I would make sure that this will not again be repeated in the future.”
