Delaware Lottery Office came out looking to have requests for proposals. They are seeking bids from different vendors for operating the centralize internet gambling system of the state. The strict stipulation in their case is that they need the system up and running before September 30.
Even though efforts have been made in other states for legalizing internet gambling over the past year or so, Delaware has remained the only one, which is having online gambling in a full-fledged legalized state.
In 2011, Nevada was able to legalize internet poker. Even though they have issued licenses to their operators, the state regulators are not expected to allow the sites into going live before spring.
Last week, even though Chris Christies, governor of New Jersey, vetoed the initial version of the bill, he was satisfied with most part. There are high chances that the revised bill will see a green signal from the governor and they might come in action not far from then.
In case of Delaware, bidding calls for internet gambling packages might see one get awarded by early part of May. Even though few states are in the running to have internet gambling being started there, Vernon Kirk, lottery director of Delaware, believes that he does not see any chance of other states beating the timeline, which they are setting.
Kirk said, during an interview, “We are having quite a start to the process. I am not sure on how fast other states would be, compared to where we are at this stage. Even though the entire process has taken more time than expected, things are getting on track and we might see the results pretty soon.”
