Senators of Nevada were all in complete turmoil, this Tuesday. It is believed that the main issue revolved around online gambling in the state, as Congress was losing out on time for considering a bill, which was sought by casino industries. There are millions of players also waiting for the bill to be passed, as internet poker will get legalized in the state.
Dean Heller, Republican Senator, insisted on the fact that Harry Reid, Democratic Senator, and industry players, initially, agreed on the strategy, which would have made the US House be the first one to act on the gaming bill. However, Reid decided to change his decision midstream.
In his defense, Reid stated that the statement was a complete fiction. He accused that Heller was a leadership failure.
Reid said that he has not been the one, who has strayed from pushing the legislation through the Senate. However, majority of his leaders, which are there with him, have a control over the schedule and voting process.
Again, some of the aides of Reid have continued to lash out on Heller behind the scenes. They believe that Heller was covering up his own defeat by pointing a finger at Reid. They said that he was trying to mask his inability to attract the Republicans and extract 15 GOP votes out of them for supporting the bill.
With crunch time almost coming close on the gaming bill, Finger pointing has surfaced between the two leaders in the Nevada State. The bill is going to seek legalization and regulation of online poker on federal levels. It will also make the restrictions on other online gambling forms tougher.
