GTech, which is a subsidiary of Lottomatica, has been caught rigging couple of internet casino games: Hi/Lo Gambler and Reel Deal.
Base code of these games was created by Realistic Games. However, GTech recoded them. After recoding, the games were distributed to numerous reputed casinos online, which include the likes of NordicBet and Betfred. Similar versions of these games were distributed by another company for other internet casino platforms.
The company provides video lottery machines to different states across the country (including South Dakota and Oregon). It received recommendation for Nevada’s internet poker license last week only.
Hi/Lo Gambler and Reel Deal, which got identified as being rigged, were mainly coin flip games. In these cases, the player had to decide on what would be the next card or a combination of the next cards. The odds were paid to the player as per the probability chosen.
Both these games got advertised to the players as the ones, which will offer them 100 percent at most internet casino. This meant that in this case, there was no question of a house edge. However, the game was not offering a fair deal as found out by a player and an expert.
Playing at one of the reputed casinos, a player practiced both the games in free version and received a fair result. This was when she decided to opt for a real money game. After playing thousands of Hi/Lo Gambler hands, she started to realize that it was actually ripping her off. After identifying that, she showed her gaming logs to her brother. He discovered that the game was rigged. It was found out that the return, which was advertised to be 100 percent by the casino, was actually 96 percent.
A reputed fair gaming expert, Eliot Jacobson, revealed that there was no chance of getting a fair card distribution, as the probability was too high.
