Nevada State creates history, offers South Point Hotel with online poker license

On Thursday, Nevada Gaming Commission made history, as they provided South Point Hotel and Casino with an interactive gaming license. This license assured that South Point could work as a manufacture, operator and service provider for Nevada’s interactive gaming systems.

This license should most likely allow South Point to provide the first legal online poker website in US history.

Mark Gaughan, CEO of South Point, said that they are looking forward to have the online poker site in functional mode latest by October. He said that after the technology of the site was given an approval by gaming regulators and independent testing lab. The firm has already acquired an interactive gaming system. They are currently having a patent that is pending for the technology, which will be used in the poker site.

It was only last year that SouthPointPoker.com, a free online poker site, was launched by Gaughan. However, he said that the new real money poker room would be different from the free site. There will be new applications as well as social media elements included in this one.

After Shuffle Master, Bally Technologies and IGT, South Point has become the fourth company for receiving this license from the Nevada State. However, the feature of the license is unique, as it allows the company to run in-house operations only. And they would not be allowed to partner with a 3rd-party operator.
