This week saw another move with reference to online gambling in New Jersey, as its Assembly Committee was able to revive the bill, which can lead to the authorization of interstate online gambling. Online gambling includes internet poker as well.
Raymond Lesniak, who is the Senator of New Jersey, believes that the proposed legislation is sure to receive a complete support from the Assembly on December 17. After that, on December 20, it is going to be presented in front of the Senate.
According to the Bill A2578, casinos established in Atlantic City are going to receive full authorization for offering online gambling to everyone, located inside the state. At this moment, Delaware is the only state in the country, which is authorized for online gambling. Online poker has been legalized in Nevada as well. However, in case of both the states, they are yet to take their first online wager.
It is not the first time that New Jersey is having a crack at online gambling legalization. Chris Christie, Governor of the state, last year, vetoed the bill, which if implemented, would have legalized internet gambling there. The legislation for internet gambling then got reintroduced to both the Assembly and the Senate in this year. During June, the bill was passed with a margin of 6-0. However, Governor said that such legislation would not receive approval till the presidential election in the country.
Even though Lesniak does give an indication of accepting the New Jersey Legislature for online gambling legalization, but it is yet to get the nod from Governor Christie.
