It was a good news for a lot of casino fans based in New Jersey, as the government there finally gave a clearance for their casino patrons to participate in gambling activities using smartphones, iPads and other form of mobile devices.
Amidst uncertainty over whether online gambling will be allowed or not, Atlantic City is believed in taking the wait and see approach prior to actually offering the option of gambling on handheld devices.
In this week only, State Gaming Enforcement Division of New Jersey issued few temporary regulations, which would govern gambling activities on handheld devices. Earlier this year, they had a passed a law, which permitted the usage of mobile gambling device.
David Rebuck, who is the director of the division, said, “These gaming regulations for handheld devices are yet another example of how all our partners are currently cooperating with us. This move also makes use of our imaginations for moving beyond the prescribed technology. One of the challenges, which we had to face, was to develop the regulations for making sure that underage gambling is prevented. We also had to make sure that the gaming in the state offers both security and integrity.”
Lisa Spengler, who is the spokesperson for the State Gaming Enforcement Division, said that they are yet to receive any application from casinos for starting their operations on such devices.
