Poker Players Alliance is looking for an alteration in the draft bill, which was devised by Senators Jon Kyl and Harry Reid, for regulation of the online poker legally.
In the letter given to the lawmakers by the Alliance during the first week of November 2012, they asserted their general support for the measures proposed by the senators. According the bill, the emphasis was on strong protection for consumer and solid framework as well. At the same time, the alliance is looking for the senators to make a few changes as well. Changes include the following:
The draft bill, which is all of 73 pages, is currently facing an uncertain future. The main reason is that the time is coming close to an end with the lame duck session.
John Pappas, who is the Executive Director of the Poker Players Alliance, said, “It is going to be shameful, in case the legislation will not make through the cracks. Without its presence, the US consumers, who are illegally gambling, are becoming a victim of the unregulated and unprotected market, which is growing unfettered each day. In case there is a thing, on which the congress should agree upon the coming session, it should be the bill, which would help in raising the revenue without having a rise in the taxes.”
