It was discovered today that Supreme Court has disqualified the proposed constitutional amendment, for allowing operations of casino across four counties in Arkansas, from the general election ballot, which was to take place on November 6.
Court made a ruling that Nancy Todd, a professional poker player and the sponsor as well, had improperly changed the proposal’s wording after she had gathered signatures for the same.
According to them, Todd had changed the wording for saying that the measure might repeal the 2005 state law. With that law, local elections had the allowance to give permission to West Memphis’ Southland Greyhound Park and Hot Springs’ Oaklawn Park thoroughbred track for operating electronic games.
The casino measure, which might have allowed Poker Palace and Entertainment Venues LLC, owned by Nancy Todd, to run casinos in several counties that included Pulaski, Miller, Franklin and Crittenden, is going to appear on the ballot. However, the Supreme Court has made a decision that any vote casted to the same is not going to get counted.
Nancy was disappointed with the court’s ruling. She said, “It is quite a disappointing fact that even though a lot of people voiced their support, it is going to be disregarded.”
